A newbie question here, I hope someone can help me!
First some context: I have recently installed inkscape 1.2.1 on my windows 11 x64 dell xps laptop. I want to use inkscape as my svg-editor for characters I will later export into Cartoon Animator 5 (from reallusion).
When importing into Cartoon Animator the naming of layers are very important - I have to use a specific naming convention for my layers.
Now to my problem: I am importing an AI-file which has been set-up using the reallusion naming conventions for the layers. When I open the file in inkscape, I see that all layers have been renamed and are now called things like g39212, g39214, g39308 instead of the layers name that are setup in the ai-file, ie hip: and torso: and hip::torso:
So my question is if it is possible to keep the layer names from the AI-file when I open it in Inkscape?

Nope.
I'd export the file from Ai as SVG.
If you don't have access to Ai, I can export the Ai file for you.
New extension: Extensions>Document>Process Illustrator svg
