Beginners' Questions Keyboard Shortcuts

    Hi,
I'm brand new to Inkscape. So far it seems amazing! I love how it's a free vector app that can essentially replace AI for many purposes.

However; the keyboard shortcuts are driving me insane.
Ideally, I'd like to know if there's a way to setup the behavior so that when I press the minus or plus keys, it just **zooms in or out, regardless of what panel or context I'm in.
Same for pressing space, unless I'm explicitly in a text field, I just want space to allow me to **pan around the canvas.
As it currently stands (Im designing with a tablet, pen, and keyboard) when I press the minus key, it searches for a layer called "- - - - " and when I press the space bar, it attempts to create a new layer.
Please please can someone help, either download a new shortcut profile or help me literally delete ALL the shortcuts aside from pan and zoom behavior.
Shortcuts are meant to make life easier, right now it's doing precisely the opposite.
Thanks so much for taking the time!

Apparently you´re avoiding using a mouse?

You can set up or change keyboard shortcuts via menu Edit > Preferences. A new window will open. Click on the little arrow next to Interface to expand, then click on Keyboard Shortcuts.

There's some info on the shortcuts here...

Hi @Polygon     Well I have my keyboard, tablet, pen, and mouse.
Hey @z3z    Ok will take a look, apologies guys I think we can close this thread. If I press the Esc key it seems to get rid of most of the issues I mentioned.
Thanks for the replies and help @z3z  @Polygon
