I work with 2 monitors. When I open Inkscape everything is ok. It is displayed on my main monitor. But if I try to import a file the windows opens and is positioned on my second monitor on the upper left edge. The menuebar of the window is so high positioned, that it is outside of the monitor-range. So I always have to move the window by my keyboard. Then I can move it back to my main monitor.
Sorry for my english - I hope you understand it.

Is there a trick to avoid this?

Welcome to the forum!
I think the upcoming version 1.0 will have a fix for that. Although I'm not 100% positive You could try it already with 1.0 beta version. https://inkscape.org/release/inkscape-1.0/?latest=1
If I'm wrong, someone else will correct me.
Thank´s for your answer. I will wait for version 1.0.
