This version of Inkscape was behaving just fine until I upgraded the macOS to OS 13 from OS 12. Since the OS upgrade, the mouse cursor style gets occasionally stuck and will not change when selecting different tools etc. To fix the issue, you have to move the mouse pointer outside of the Inkscape window and then back into Inkscape, and the pointer will revert to the correct pointer for the tool being used. The screenshots below give an example. After Inkscape is opened, the select and transform objects pointer is displayed. On dragging the edge of the Inkscape window to resize it, the mouse cursor changed to a small double-headed arrow. If another tool is selected, the cursor symbol does not change. However, the function selected does work. If the mouse cursor is moved outside the Inkscape window and then moved back into Inkscape, the pointer is now the correct symbol.
Inkscape 1.2.1 (9c6d41e4, 2022-07-14), MacOS Ventura 13.0.1.
