My Inkscape installation shows some annoying behaviour which I hope can somehow be disabled.
When I pick the "Selection (S)" tool and try to select, move or drag a text element, I have to be really careful where to click. Many times, when I click onto the text element, Inkscape automatically starts the text editing mode and instead of dragging/moving the whole element within the page, I accidentally select some part of the text and then move/drag that piece of text inside the text element. This is extremely annoying.
I am still not 100% sure what triggers that behaviour, but it seems to be as follows:
If I click onto a letter (i.e. at some point with "ink"), then I select the entire text element.
If I click into the text element, but not onto a letter (i.e. onto some white space or space between letter, i.e. at some point without "ink"), then Inkscape starts the text editing mode.
Anyway, the whole behaviour is extremely fragile and contradicts an efficient work flow, because I cannot arrange text elements quickly. Moreover, I need to zoom at a very high scale to make sure that I hit the right part of a text element.
I would prefer if I had to start text editing more explicitly: for example, by selecting the "Text Edit (T)" tool manually or making a double click onto the text. This auto-start behaviour is a pain in the ass.
I already had a look into "Edit -> Setting ...", but I did not find any option which looked as if it did what I need.

Tanks for any advice.
I've seen this. In my case it was due to a faulty mouse. Each "click" of the mouse button sent a "double-click" to the application.
