I'm new in town, and just getting into the finer points of Inkscape. I was able to create a logo that I liked using font and simple shapes, but I'm going back and thickening the font to make a fuller logo. I have learned about outset/insets in order to do this, but because of the internal geometry of the font, I am having to get used to moving nodes in order to make internal space for the font enlargement.
I have attached an image that shows two spots where I am having troubles understanding nodes and their relationships. In the first, left circle in the image, I have moved the two horizontal parts of the font away from eachother to make space for the font to outset between them. As you can see, that has taken the radius between the two horizontal beams and made it oblong. What is the best method to make this a smooth circle radius?
In the second circled area the node has become a sharp angle after some outsetting. What is the best way to make this a smooth, circular radius? I was previously an engineer and used a lot of CAD where things like this are all math and dimension based, so this is a bit new to me yet.
Ooo, I don't have much experience with path effects yet, but this looks like a perfect solution for the sharp angle and I could probably make it work for the other radius by flattening out the nodes. Thanks for the advice. I'll give it a spin.
Well, I've found that nodes can get a little tricky when you start chopping up fonts, but for those internal geometries I showed, this solution worked great.
I'm a little confused with how they are measured because the radius I am having to put in is colossal compared to the actual font dimensions, but it isn't really a problem right now. Just a mild annoyance for the science part of my brain.

Thanks for any help in advance.
At this stage, I'd try using the Fillet path effect.

Thanks for the tips.
