What is "Handle to cusp node" and how do I stop it from interfering with my work. It's always popping up when ever I try to set a point. Like when I'm making a square, I try to set a point and the X with the "handle to cusp node" pops up and the set point jumps to another place. It's really getting frustrating.

    Welcome to the forum!

"handle to cusp node" sounds like a snapping notification.  You can disable snapping.  The snap control bar is usually on the right side of the window.  The button at the very top globally disables (or enables - it's a toggle) snapping.

When you get more experience with Inkscape, you may find snapping to be a helpful feature.  But I totally understand your frustration.  I enable and disable snapping all day long, as I need or don't need it.

Thank you sooo much. This was driving me crazy. I'm sure I'll end up using the feature more in the future, as I gain more experience, but for now, I am glad I can turn it off. Thanks again.

Just for future reference, you can have snapping turned on, with notifications turned off.  It doesn't sound like you want that now.  But maybe later.
