The documents I work with have always been single page documents but for the past few months everything I import a file it keeps creating additional pages. I then have to manually delete the new pages. When I import files it is because I'm trying to add components to the page I'm working on. I could not seem to find an option to turn it off. How can I restrict Inkscape to one page only.

If you are importing svg files, there is a menu in Preferences:
Thanks I will try that. Most of my imports are eps and pdfs using ghost script.
