I've been using Inkscape, a couple of weeks now, and think it's versatility, is excellent. I'm trying to create a logo, so first I am messing around with fonts. I have a couple of questions, relating to this. I want to make the font I'm using, a bit thicker. I followed a video tutorial, which used Path>Outset, but nothing seems to happen. Doesn't it work with all fonts, or am I doing something wrong. My second question, is regarding crossover of letters. In my logo, I have a letter, and a number. I have overlaid, one on top of the other. Where they intersect, I want to make a different colour, but not sure how to do it.
In Inkscape (and other vector editors) there are numerous object types: path, text, group, clone, symbol, etc. To use path operations, I'd first use Menu: Path>Object to path.

Did Path>Object to path, and still not working.
I'd review the status bar for information. Could be the text objects are grouped and need to be ungrouped.
Thanks.
