I just "upgraded" to Mac OS Catalina, I also just downloaded and installed the Beta 1 of Inkscape. The problem I am having is that the font in the file browser window is not readable, is this a bug or something i can fix.

    Welcome to the forum!

I can't see the problem you're talking about.  Could you put a circle around what's missing?

Interesting file names... Please test this again with the latest development version from here:
    https://inkscape.org/release/master/

If that version is also affected, please report this at https://inkscape.org/report . Please also include information about your system's default font and your system's language settings.

Same weird font issue with the lastest development version. I am using Mac with the latest Catilina OS set for English, but I dont know where to check the default font.

Side Question: Am I spinning my wheels with Inkscape belta 1 right now? I need a usable vector design program for my business, and I heard great things about Inkscape. I lost my old copy of Adobe Illustrator CS6 when went to Mac Catalina, and now I have to deside what direction is next.

Oh, I see it now.  It looks like the text is all squashed together....except it looks like numbers show up ok.

As for spinning your wheels, this definitely needs to be reported.  It won't get fixed if it's not reported.  (Personally, I've never seen this before, so it may well be unknown to developers.)

If you don't want to get involved by reporting it, one of us could report it.  Although it would be better for you to do it, since you would be able to answer any questions which developers might have, or provide any other info they might need (files or whatever).

I'm not a Mac user, so I don't know how to find your system font.  But you could still report the bug, and if developers ask for that, you can ask them how to find it.  I'm not sure if Moini might know how to find it.

Does this happen only in that dialog?  Or are other dialogs like that?  It would seem odd to me, if it's only happening in that one.  But that's not to say I don't believe you.

You could try the current stable version 0.92.4.  In fact, you probably should try it, before reporting the bug.  If it happens in the current stable version too, that should be included in the report.

Or if you want to stick with 1.0 beta (for the new features) and this problem only happens in that Open File window, you could maybe open your files in a different way?

The address where bugs with 1.0 should be reported is https://inkscape.org/report . I have no idea whether this is an issue that can be solved quickly (e.g. by installing a font that would be required or something) or if it's a deeper issue, but I suppose the developers will be able to help you.
