At the bottom of the export dialog in the right side panel is a file type dropdown, I chose .pdf. To the left of the file type dropdown is a button for the file name dialog. The dialog comes up with a filename terminated with ".pdf". But down at the bottom of the dialog is a dropdown with file types. What is that dropdown for since I've already chosen the file type?
And that (second?) file type dropdown doesn't include .pdf as a file type -- why not?
That does seem to work much better. The dropdown at the bottom of "File>Save a copy" has a very long list of available file formats.
Why does the export tab in the right panel have such a short list or output formats?
"File>Save a copy" also builds the suggested filename based on the name of the SVG that was being edited, which is really nice and defaults to putting it in the same directory as the SVG, whereas the export tab in the right panel makes up some other file name with a date in it and doesn't default to the current directory so you have to browse to find what should be the default.
The export tab in the right panel needs to be updated to behave like "File>Sava a copy". It's just not very useful the way it is. And because it offers more options about "what to save", etc. it really should be fixed. Get rid of the file format dropdown in the export tab of the right panel and just use the filename/location picker from "File>Save a copy".

It's more common to us File>Save a copy as PDF. Works fine.
