I find myself changing the selection of nodes when I want to zoom in or out while using the Node Tool. I can only avoid it by moving the cursor away from where I'm working and then zooming with the mouse wheel. This is not very nice at all. I should be able to zoom in or out while using the node tool, without having to move the cursor away.
It looks good for me. Perhaps I used a font that's not installed on your system. Try selecting all the text objects and use the text tool [t] to set a smaller font.
I mean, they look messed up on the website. Though I just checked on Chromium and they look fine. Perhaps it's a browser thing (my main browser is Palemon)

As a workaround, you can zoom in and outwith plus and minus on the keypad or [=] and [-] on the keyboard.
