Beginners' Questions Create fonts from SVG

I am using inkscape tocreate fonts in fontforge. This I can do but I have a number of font sets I have created that are vector and not ttf.. If I paste a svg design it to the font editor I can add it as a glyph (get curve) and it nearly works. By nearly I mean it forms the font but regardless of whether it is upper or lower case (lined up with canvas guides) the font is top aligned and the preview shows this. It works perfectly if I load the same design as a png, trace it in inkscape and the get the curver to create the glyph. They come out bottomed aligned.

I don't do much of this, so hopefully others with more experience can chime in...  would this work?

Tyler Durden. Just noticed I uploaded the wrong file. It should have been the lower case A (looks the same but is smaller). It is the lower case letters that cause the most trouble. Here it is.

That said if I load a lowercase letter first then an uppercase letter the uppercase goes wrong. My version of inkscape is different to yours, mine is 1.2
