just found Inkscape and I am wondering if it will create a copy of an antique clock dial as I restore torsion clocks for a hobby and some of them are just printed card.
I am looking for software that I can either scan the old dial and clean up, or create from scratch and print onto photo paper.
is there any tutorial or even better video to help old people like me to get started as I am not used to drawing software I haven’t downloaded it yet as I wanted to make sure it would do what I needed first.
Hi all new here
just found Inkscape and I am wondering if it will create a copy of an antique clock dial as I restore torsion clocks for a hobby and some of them are just printed card.
I am looking for software that I can either scan the old dial and clean up, or create from scratch and print onto photo paper.
thanks in advance Dell
Inkscape is an excellent choice for that type of work.
Thanks for that

I always suggest stepping through the Tutorials found in Inkscape's Help menu.
More good specific information in two online manuals: https://inkscape-manuals.readthedocs.io/en/latest/index.html and http://tavmjong.free.fr/INKSCAPE/MANUAL/html/index.php
Including a short bit on tracing. https://inkscape-manuals.readthedocs.io/en/latest/tracing-an-image.html
Keep in mind, the program is updated occasionally, and some documents will not be up to date.
