    Hello guys,

just started to use Inkscape to write with wacom tablet. All goes OK until I try to write a closed line like zero digit, it disappears if the end point matches the start point.

I've just digged into preferences and tutorials but with no success.

    Thanks for the help!

Maybe try a template different from the one you are currently using?

    Edit:
Attached my templates (SVG files) used when testing this in Inkscape 1.3-alpha (8bbd9368a, 2023-05-20).

I'm sure I didn't load any templates. Just launched Inkscape, clicked on "Draw freehand lines" and "Use pressure input" buttons and started writing on a tablet.

Inkscape always start with a template.

Could you save the blank page showing when you launch Inkscape and share it here like I did?

Did you test drawing something in the ones I attached?

I've just understood that the closed path does not disappear, it is filled with white, that's why it becomes invisible. Is there a way to turn off closed paths filling?

    The blank page is attached.

You can set properties for tools by double-clicking the icons in the toolbar. Pretty sure yours is set up to "Last used Style". You can set it with "Take from Selection" to make it "This tool´s own style".

Your blank page is using the same scale as the 25.4PI.svg shared in post #2.
The closed path is found far outside the page when I zoom out.

When I use a different scale like in the 96PI.svg shared in post #2, the path does not "disappear".

Same issue in 1.2.2 and 1.3 Beta on Windows.

Good to know, SVG files can be created and edited with any text editor or with drawing software.

OK, closed paths does not disappear. But the question remains: is there a way to turn off closed paths filling? E.g., I'd like the letter "O" to be drawn instead of black spot.

After selecting a tool from the toolbar, I usually assign colors...

In this case, I'd click the X on the left end of the palette, or right-click in the status-bar color tools and select remove fill. Then use the tool.
