With the new version. why cant i save as a png file, can only save as a pdf. 

Png is far easier when rasterizing 

@Gazza23 PDF can be "Save as: and be "exported".

Why can I not save as a png file? that was my question, the previous version I can save as a png, not with the newer version

Nope - PNG has always been an export file format.

Yip, not with the older version. with version 0.92 I can save it under the save as details as a png file and I can still save it in various formats, the new version doesnt have the save as function to save as a png file, basically only a pdf version. If i used the export function it says my computer cannot read it, I have even tried to open with Corel and it wont open

Save as PNG and you loose all vector data. Go ahead.

Why do I loose all the vectors details with the Cairo png ?

I keep persisting and try and get the export function to work properly, thanks for your help 

Just PDF, EPS, PS will maintain vector data. Inkscape explicits asks when closing to save to Inkscape-SVG otherwise loosing data. And there´s a "Save a copy as…" under File menu.
