Hi, I cannot drag and drop anything into Inkscape.

I have a Mac OS (version 10.14.6). I downloaded Inkscape a few months ago (I can't remember which version) and it didn't work.  So I updated it to the 1.0 version but it still does not work.  I am new at learning Inkscape and have been following the tutorials on youtube but am finding it harder to do so with not being able to drag and drop.  I can drag and drop onto other programmes.  Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

what do you mean by drag&drop - "move" probably with the "Select and Transform Objects" (S)-tool?

There´s a small tool which lets you record GIFs called LICEcap.app you might consider to try visualise the issue you have.

Moving a photo or picture into Inkscape. I have searched online to see if anyone else has this problem and no one else seems to have an issue.

I´m on HighSierra and it´s working so far; dragging  a selected image from Finder onto open Inkscape window. Though sometimes it needs more than one try and I´m under the impression PNG works better than JPG. But so far I wouldn´t call it an issue.

I cannot drag and drop even if I try several times.  I cannot even get a PNG to move into the screen.  The only way I can open a file through Inkscape is by clicking file - import - search.  Then I can sometimes get it to open up.  I don't know if I'm on the right platform to ask for help.  I was just hoping someone else out there might be having the same problem as me and be able to help.  Maybe I just need to change some settings on my computer I just don't know how.

Maybe try to do it in "slow-motion" - you have to wait for the "+" cursor before you can release the button:

(Yesterday was the first time since 2004 when I started with Inkscape I was able to copy&paste from Mail.app into open Inkscape file - Jay!)
