Beginners' Questions Can I separate elements of stroke converted to path

I began with a letter T and converted that to a path, then stroked the object and converted the stroke to aย  path. Finally, I ungrouped the path from the letter T and have a hollow letter T. Now I want to remove that inner stroke. I've tried everything I can think of. I know there are workarounds, but is what I'm trying to do doable?

If if is a path object, I'd try path>break apart.ย  It will become two or more filled objects stacked on each other.

Take the Node-tool and select node from the inner path - hit cmd*A tp select all from the continuous path - then hit backspace to delete.

Thank you Tyler. I had tried the break apart option, but did not realize that the solidly filled object had three layers. That works perfectly. I'd also tried deleting inner nodes, but aside from the fact that there were dozens, it did not go well and I ended up with a real mess.
