duplicate ellipse - move upwards for coin thickness
with circle tool adjust half circle or type in Start: 0,0 End: 180 switch to Arc to delete the straight closing line
go Path->Object to path
take Bézier tool highlight end node of half circle - click and click till it snaps to above full ellipse - hit enter - same for the other side. Adjust fill color - done.
Basically the 3D Version of Circles, since I already know how to make squares 3D but not circles
So the question is how would I make a 3D Cylinder or Circle?
An example of it would be a 3D Coin:
