I've used Illustrator for years but when I got a new Mac in the fall, the data transfer from old to new lost all of my Adobe software. I downloaded Inkscape as a replacement. Does anyone know of a really good, detailed and slow moving video to help me master the basics rather quickly? I'm a visual learner and reading directions isn't nearly as helpful as watching it happen at a pace that can be absorbed. I REALLY need this!!!
Thanks. I went there but don't see "for beginners." The only one I see if for a shadow. Can you tell me where to find a video for a real beginner so I see things from the beginning? I'm really having big problems.
Yes, thanks to your suggestion, I found that AND his Master Class and subscribed. It seems like the perfect solution to my quandary. Thanks sooooo much!
I'm Roy Torley. I note that you're a visual learner in your earlier post. Are you amenable to reading? If so, I'm writing a tutorial series that's heavy on graphical examples. It might a decent alternative resource for you. The table of contents is at:
Chapters (I just call them tutorials) look long, but that's because of all the pictures. I hope this helps. By the way, welcome to Inkscape and the community!
Thanks for your reply. I've found the Master Class by Logos by Nick (I think I'm giving the correct info.) and it's become my Inkscape "Bible." So far, I'm learning, but it's hard to overcome what I knew in Illustrator. But for free, what a boon Inkscape is!!!!
Isn't it?! I started out with Illustrator a couple of decades ago and finally had to move on when finances got tight. I can afford free.
Nick Sapolito's tutorials are excellent! They're lean & mean and give you new insights and skills in bite-sized chunks. In contrast, I'm the tome writer. I also understand the culture shock when it comes to doing a switch over, and I am a slow learner. I'm very glad you found Nick.
Hey, first off welcome to Inkscape! Looks like you're on the right track to learning the basics with Logos by Nick. For me I just dove right in, kept creating graphics (I'm a graphic designer), and learned from my mistakes along the way.
There might be a bit of a learning curve at the beginning, but keep at it and I'm sure you will get the hang of Inkscape in no time. All the best!

Look up "Logos by Nick" @ YouTube for instance. Very detailed tuts - he never left out a step.

Thanks. I went there and it started with how to do shadows. I didn't see the "for beginners."
Have you checked his channel already? https://m.youtube.com/c/LogosByNick/videos
He has tons of Inkscape tuts and a total Inkscape course for a few bucks. Check out his website.
