im kinda new to inkscape and have created a design with cut out text from a rectangle, i save it to my pc as a .svg but icannot figure out why when i import it to Design Space the cut out text is missing and replace with a rectangle filled with color.
ive attached some screenshots of the design looking perfect in inkscape, and also how the design turns out when imported to Design Space.
Not a problem, didn't bother to figure out what their specs are. Possibly in my file you may have do a further operation. Have used a different program with Gerber plotter (15" Tractor Feed Vinyl) and guessing from you picture the red square on left is red vinyl where the text would be weeded. Along with cutting the stroke lines of the rectangles and the red text on right would be left and the white area (would be created by leaving text and weeding out to leave white area). Then the remaining graphic would be placed on a white? substrate.
This might be a better file to try. Updated paths and strokes. Not sure how they create file as to optimizing plotter movements. IE might cut one letter and travel to another area and cut and so on. Did not color as would not be needed unless it is printing the colors.
so your first file achieved what im trying to do, the 2nd file was creating the problem im currently having but on the other side.
so how did you get the word text to show up without the box getting filled with color, i shall upload the file to inkscape to see if i can figure it out.
Have you made the outter rectangle with no fill, then placed another rectangle inside with a fill, then just placed text in the center, then made all objects to path, and not actually cut text out of one of the rectangles?
with all your help im quite sure i have master this simple design, using "path > difference",and "stroke to path" im able to create and cut it just perfect.
i start off with main rect 10cm x 4 cm no fill and 2mm stroke
then i make 2 rect 5cm x 4 cm
i then add the 2 text boxes and align them with their own rect
then click DUB and its rect and hit "path difference" and remove the Edition rect box
set stoke to path on main rect and then path > union
export to svg
and import into cricut.
possibly a long winded way of doing it, but i have sucess.

Here is a file to try. Had to look up what Design Space was.
Sample has text converted to path. Will no longer be editable text.
Thanks for the reply.👍
im no longer at my pc, but will try again tomorrow and see if your file works.
Design Space is the software I use to cut out my designs.

No idea. Load in Inkscape and click on item and look at status bar. First image was junk with rectangles and large stroke.
Second image is what I am used to a commercial program with 1100 fonts and it would cut on all the lines shown.
Possibly check YouTube videos.
I am on Linux plus no way would I open a Google account to download the app.
Two other things to try on second image is to save as png file or in Document Properties check the Checkerboard option and save.
Maybe this:
