That is possible - but you need a "Stencil-font" to keep all parts together - then - convert Object to Path - ungroup - Path->Combine - select with number outlined - Path->Difference or Path->Combined:
PS: "Vertical Kerning" on minus value is the goal here.
To raise or lower the text, go into text mode (F8) and set the "vertical shift" control at the right end of the dialogue bar. You can expand or contract the text and edit it while it is on the line. If you move or deform the line, the text follows!
Neat!
You can also treat the path as a frame and flow the text into the frame. If you select multiple closed paths or shapes, the text will be spread across them all! This makes it possible to simulate text columns. As you change the frame dimensions, the text reflows!
I think I see this coming but it´s hard to tell when it start to become the unexpected without the file. So either share the file or a screenshot showing the node tool active.
And I´d say if it´s not intentional move the "Tüttelchen" to the right.
sorry for the late reply. Here is the file. I think I know the reason. I put the blank layer over the number, I should cut it out - but I don't know how...
Why not upload the SVG? Or should we reinvent the whole drawing for you? In essence you need a skewed rectangle to cut from the rest (the text needs to be an extra part) via path.>Difference . then add the text via Path->Union
I think it´s better to do some cleaning up before proceeding: in essence you want to convert Path->Stroke to path and do the Boolean operation with the result then.
Hello all,
I want to create a house number plate with the family name within the number (for laser cut).
I wrote a 6 converted it to an path and linked an Text to the path.
But the text is always linked to the top of the nummber I don#t know how to move or to change the location of the path.
In Corel you can choose the start point of the link on the path how can I do this in Inkscape?
thanks for you help
Timo
Hallo Timo.
Do you want the text to follow the number exactly or would a helper oval circular helper shape not be a better solution?
Maybe like so:
Hello PixelPest,
thank you for you help. I got the text into the number. Is there a way to bring the text not on the path but above?
The reason is that I´d like to cut the number out of stainless metal sheet.
Regards
Timo

It reads as "Vertical Kerning" as per above PS:
Text flow into frame won´t bend or curve text BTW.
Hello,
I finally made it as desired. But now there is an other problem I tried to export to dxf or convert via tinkercad.
But there is only the outer path an not black-Material white-empty...
Is there an extension or something else to convert this result?
Regards
Timo

Hey,
this is the svg file...?
I draw a rectangle but i was´t able to cut it (Path - difference)
You have way too many objects in your scene:
I think it´s better to do some cleaning up before proceeding: in essence you want to convert Path->Stroke to path and do the Boolean operation with the result then.
It should look like this:
Thats looks like it.
Please help me step by step:
1. Draw 6
2. Contour with 10mm black
3. convert into path - not working no selected objekt...
3.5 add to number: union
4. draw retangle -also with contour 10mm how to delete the short side lines
5. convert into path
6. combine withe cut path?
7.. Text to path: name in retangle
8. Tüttelchen combine with cut path?
Sorry for the questions and thank you for your help...
Can´t explain it any better than this:
