… and could that perhaps be done completely inside Inkscape?
Reading through the docs for the many new (features of) tools and expansions repeatedly let me wonder if this might have become possible - and then seemed to destroy that illusion(?) again.
~ a decade ago, I had made a collection of special glyphs with Inkscape (just the paths) and/for FontForge and wonder if I have to install (and re-learn) the latter again.

p.s.: Is there a way to get directly to the last post of a topic, rather than to open it and scroll all the way down?

I don't know about FontForge, but you can link to a specific comment in a forum post. Right-click the comment number on the left side and copy the link. Select text in your new comment and use the chain icon and paste the link. Here's a link to your original post above.

Thanks for your helpfulness. But I seem to have phrased my questions badly. My English's gotten quite rusty, so please bear with me.

My question is not about FontForge. It's whether a (set of) glyphs can be completely defined (not just drawn) in Inkscape (and put into a new font).

My question is not about how to make (and possibly save) a link to a post I've already seen. It's about how to get to a new post I've not yet seen.

Inkscape can import shapes from many different sources. Where do your glyphs come from?

Old Inkscape files should still load in today's version, and FontForge can import Inkscape svg files.

I misunderstood your post script. The forum will notify you when new comments are added to your post, if you set that as an option in your profile.

Hi Paddy - and your nick-"extension" hints at a similarity of (some of) your uses of Inkscape and mine.

I know most(?) of Inkscape's import abilities.
I'll draw the glyphs in Inkscape and then import them into FontForge to have them integrated into a font that I use to write texts in an Inkscape drawing.
In this application, the glyph will take the role of a construction element, hundreds or thousands of which might be chained into a "text" as a component of the construction. (LPE or tiled clones produce a humongous pile of nodes with unreadable svg-code.)

And - I have utilized the days instead of just waiting for an answer: Decided to bite the bullet of re-learning FontForge. Felt rather desperate during the first few hours, but turned out pretty straightforward later.
(That had been my workflow some 12-14 years ago, when I made some glyphs with Inkscape to use them as route markers in a navigation program.)

And yes, the forum sends me a mail, when this topic gets a new post.
I open the topic and have to scroll all the way down to that new post. (Not an issue here, the thread is still short - but irksome in longer threads.)
