During the beta versions of Inkscape I used two different font managers to successfully load custom fonts.
Just before the 1.0 release the font managers stopped loading: they didn't show in the dropdown even after you restarted Inkscape.
You could still install fonts to Windows in the release before 1.1. Now they don't show either.
I recall seeing a post about a change to the font engine on the old forum (looks like this is a new one?) but I don't remember the explanation or what they planned to do about it.
Anybody else having trouble using anything but the original windows fonts? Dunno why they didn't make this a priority - its a pretty big gap in a graphics program if you're doing any creative work.
