Fonts are an important part of my designs. I wish I could create my own fonts inside Inkscape to use in my work. I want to do more than just design a font in Inkscape. I prefer to start and complete the whole process within Inkscape without having to rely on other software and websites for their templates and to create the actual font file.
I think this feature would be the most useful in vector software because vector artists use text very often in their artwork, since they are more likely to design logos, slogans and other designs used by companies. Font itself is a form of art, which I find enjoyable, and it is important for making designs look unique. I really wish I could create my own fonts in the vector software that I use instead of using fonts that other people have made. I'm always thinking of how I want a font to look like but I can't find anything from other creators that matches what I have in mind. Since fonts are very important in vector art, uniqueness matters, and sometimes copyright can be an issue, it would be helpful if Inkscape had features for the entire font creation process.
Also, another suggestion I have is that it would be great if Inkscape becomes available on the iPad. It's hard to be inspired to create something if I'm just sitting at my desk working on my computer. I feel more inspired when I'm on the go and can work anywhere. As more professional programs become available on the iPad, I find that a lot more of my workflow is now happening on the iPad. Its portability gives me a boost of creativity. So, I really hope that Inkscape will become available on the iPad. I'd be very happy if I could do my vector work there.
I'm into fonts too, and find that fonts can be created with Inkscape. Here I describe how I use Inkscape to create SVG fonts using the Custom Stroke Font extension. This extension is not at all limited to stroke fonts. The final part and serious part of creating fonts - the kerning (where I still have a lot to learn) - I think we should leave to dedicated software like FontForge. But Inkscape do have this included too for SVG fonts. If you open an svg-font-file in Inkscape and go to Text - SVG font editor you can even work on the kerning. When I tested this in earlier versions, Inkscape crashed a lot. I have not tested it yet in the current versions. Maybe it is working fine. Converting to other font formats is quite simple using FontForge, and I struggle to agree that the Inkscape project should focus their time on these tasks while there is FontForge dedicated to this.

Thank you :)
