I am a new Inkscape user. Just downloaded the current version on Windows 11. I would like to use Shelley Allegro Script Font and have downloaded the file as .ttf and .otf . While I am able to use the font in other applications like LebreOffice, I am unable to find it in InkScape. I am an hand engraver and prefer this font for my layouts. Any assistance would be appreciated.

Just to make sure, check preferences/tools/text settings make sure that the use inkscape's fonts directory and user's fonts are both selected. if that isnt the issue, try creating a directory of fonts in your home/user directory and add that path to the prefs, and see if that resolves the issue.

After downloading the font, did you install it? Or if using and alternate directory for fonts, did you point inkscape to that directory?
I did install it and there are two versions of it listed under "Available fonts" in my Windows 11 Settings.
