Beginners' Questions Set Measurements to Metres

    Is there a way to do all measurements in metres?  I'd like to sketch the design of the F50 catamaran in the SailGP.   It's 15m long with a mast 24m high, and I'd like to do a "tech" drawing of Elevation, Plan views etc.

    Or should I just set a custom page size that can accommodate this, even if it's still in millimetres?

    [Edit]  Tried resizing a page to suit, but ran into a problem  Drew one line and it disappeared!  Finally "found" it, but it was almost invisible and after checking opacity etc, I finally realised it was due to page size, and I would have to make every single line etc way thicker than usual.  :(

    I'm not helping much here but could you draw in centimetres? You say the mast is 24 cm high and so on, your design will still be up to scale.

    Go to File/Document Properties/Page/General and set in cm, then draw 1:100. Once completed, for a tech draw with real measures, use Extensions/Visualize Path/ Measure Path and change the Length Unit in m(etres).

    @Amstellodamois , thanks, yes that seems a far better option!

    @zerocinquanta  - great, that's a feature I didn't know about!

    Appreciate your helpful suggestions. 😊
