Inkscape 1.3 > Pen Tool > left click on canvas/image > move mouse > double left click,
this leaves a black and white dashed border around the line.
When I select the Select Tool and click on the canvas/image, the straight line disappears?
Whilst the dashed border is on the line, I've selected Black, White, Stroke style, but nothing keeps the line I'm trying to create?
You have no stroke color assigned.
Ok, after some research I figured it out.
Just clicking on the white on the bottom left wouldn't add colour.
Solution: Inkscape 1.3 > select bottom left, right of Fill or Stroke > new tab window opens: Fill and Stroke > Stroke paint > Flat colour > select colour.
Or use shift-click to set stroke color.
Or right click on a color and you can select "set stroke"
