Inkscape is really mighty and I'm happy to use a software that remembers me to the good old Adobe Imagestyler I used for decades.
I miss one really cool feature if we speak about the basic settings: In Gravit, you have kind of helplines, means, when you wanna place a circle in a bigger rectangle Gravit gives horizontal and vertical lines, when in place. It also works to align objects to each other. I really hope Inkscape has it and I just too new to know it?
Take a look at the 'Align & Distribute' panel (if it's not already open, press Shift + Ctrl + A). This should do what you want. However.... you'd have to use this after you've drawn the second shape. Inkscape won't display anything on screen while you draw.
You could also use Guides or set up a grid. You can enable snapping, and set the options for either 'Snap to grid' or 'snap to guide' (the snapping menu is the vertical menu at the right hand side). This will help you keep objects in the correct alignment to each other.
Rectangle, Rectangle, between them 1 hand space. In Gravit, if you move the second Rectangle, a line turns visible/show up when vertical or horizontal middle is reached. I don't speak about snapping.
Update: I've learned about all the snappin functions and it's enough for me. Just need bound box snapping and center snapping to be happy. I'm fine with the helplines together with alignment to align a rroup of objects...
Hi all!
I know about snapping... What I mean is:
Rectangle, Rectangle, between them 1 hand space. In Gravit, if you move the second Rectangle, a line turns visible/show up when vertical or horizontal middle is reached. I don't speak about snapping.
At 2.52 you see it showing up a twink, when 2nd rectangle is moved: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IVDLVnv_Na0
Inkscape doesn't offer this feature. You'll either need to align manually, or use a grid/guides to help you with layout.
Oki, ty - that was all I wanna know. I hope in future it will be in, then Inkscape would be perfect.
Update: I've learned about all the snappin functions and it's enough for me. Just need bound box snapping and center snapping to be happy. I'm fine with the helplines together with alignment to align a rroup of objects...
TY all!
Yeah, I thought you might use center snapping or outline snapping. That works great for me.
