Hi! I want to draw an AND gate.

Can you provide me with the steps how to achieve this?

Also, How do I place a node in the middle of a straight light?

To get started with basic Inkscape usage I'd recommend the tutorials available from the help menu.

Regarding logical symbols, you might want to check out the "Symbols" dialog (Ctrl + Shift + Y) that already ships with a stock set:

If you really want to draw the AND gate yourself there are a variety of ways you could approach it, but here's what I would do:

    1. Draw a rectangle of the right height, but about twice as wide as you need.
    2. Use the handle on the rectangle to round the corners to give you a lozenge shaped rectangle.
    3. Draw another rectangle that completely covers one half of the lozenge. You should probably ensure this one has sharp corners using the button on the toolbar.
    4. Select both rectangles.
    5. Path > Difference.
    6. Use the Node tool (F2) to adjust the final shape. For example, clicking the flat side will select both nodes, then you can use the arrow keys to adjust the final width of the shape.

As for placing a node in the middle of a straight line:

    1. Select the line.
    2. Switch to the Node tool (F2).
    3. Click on the line to select both end nodes.
    4. Press the Insert key on your keyboard, or click the '+' button at the left of the toolbar.
