I don't know if i am doing something wrong but i tried to change Q to group but it just zooms in on what is selected. i've tried closing and reopening but nothing seems to work. does anyone know if changing keyboard shortcuts is bugged?
Just a guess... maybe you will have to disassociate the alt key from the menu keybinding in the GTK settings so that it is free to use for other things in Inkscape.

is there a way to get inkscape to recognize ALT+F as a shortcut for something on the canvas and not opening the FILE menu?
