What is the best way to achieve a distress / retro look and feel, using textures and / or opacity. These designs will be made into DTF transfers and put onto t-shirts etc. Thanks!
search google for "grunge texture" and find a couple you like or might give you the look you're going for ie more scratchy lines or dots of dust different sized splotches. copy those images into inkscape. run a trace bitmap "brightness cut off" on those playing around with the threshold to get more or less of the texture. then place that newly made vector grunge texture over your vector(s) and do a difference operation or series of them if you have multiple colors.

Thanks sketch. That's pretty much what I've been doing. Would you alter the opacity at all to lighten it up to achieve a faded look?
