Using Inkscape with Other Programs Spikes shoot out of SVG created in Inkscape due to bezier tool?

I've created an SVG and imported it in Blender. It works fine there, up until now. For some joining of objects I need to convert the whole logo into a mesh. For doing that, I have add some depth. When I do that, spikes start to shoot out of the logo. Even when doing the bare minimum of depth, the logo starts to look less smooth. These spikes are I think there because I created them with the bezier tool, but hid the pointy objects within the exterior of the logo. When adding depth, these spikes extrude out of that exterior and become visible again.

Is there a way I can make the SVG more clean so that Blender will only see the shapes as visually seen? Maybe join all the lose object together somehow?

It seems like it helps to carefully remove redundant nodes. I guess I wasn't really good at creating the logo. Does anyone by any chance a nice tutorial to create this logo, but then with best practices? From the outside it looks okay. But the nodes aren't set nicely. I think I'll redo the whole logo. But would like to do it right now.

OK first let's see where the issue is likely located.

Next post we'll look at best-practice.

I can't say this is best-practice, but it may be useful...

The problematic nodes seen above resulted from the Stroke-to-Path operation, due to the nodes being smooth or symmetric. Here's how to edit the nodes and get a successful stroke-to-path after.

After the stroke to path, unioning the K to the perimeter may make problem nodes and duplicates to clean up.

That looks very informative, thanks for taking that time. That's really appreciated.

One question though, "The problematic nodes seen above resulted from the Stroke-to-Path operation". Currently the paths of the K and the speech bubble node sets are joined, indeed, after doing a stroke-to-path. You seem to have undone the union. How did you do this? I can use an older saved version of this SVG. But I think it's useful to know the trick in reverse as well.

I also used an older version, the one you shared on July 17.

It is possible to centerline-trace a bitmap copy of a converted stroke, but results might not be as fast or useful as re-drawing.

Ah okay! I think I've done it slightly different. Can you give it a quick check if this looks okay? I also removed the background within the oval to see the blue color of the K better. But probably had to move it back a layer level? Will try to get the white background back tomorrow. Otherwise I guess adding a new layer of white in the contour of the oval and then moving that to the background would do the trick.

That looks quite good to me.

It should be simple enough to add a white object behind the rest.

The final test will be the results in Blender.

Adding the depth and converting it to mesh and then join the whole object worked in Blender! Thanks again!!

    Nice.

The Z looks like it's bumping into the oval, but that's an easy fix.

I noticed that too. The text is centered though. But it doesn't look right now, or when added more space to the left side, because then the text as a whole doesn't look centered. For now I've reduced the depth and extrude to minimize it a bit. Because it seems like it's either close to the edge or centered text. Or I change the oval/text to add some more space of course.
