I have a vector file and I want to cut the outline out on my laser cutter.  But the the design has many interior paths and objects.  I just want the outline as one continuous path then use the laser cutter to cut just that.  Any way to do this?

In theory without seeing your design: duplicate everything and go Path->Unite send to background -  then Path->Outset a few times.

Thanks.  I figured it out.  I used Paths > Break Apart and this separated the interior paths from each other.  Then I could select each one and delete it.

This is a video tutorial I once made.

@JurgenG  It´s so much easier today to create a new outline: just select with the node tool 1 node from the outer rim and 2 nodes at the holes= 3 nodes all in all - then go Edit->Select All followed by Edit->X for "Cut" - Deselect everything and "paste" and there you have it. (For unknown reason on macOS the result is flipped vertically and not pasted into place - no big deal but confusing)

Cool, thanks for pointing me to this. I guess it's getting time to put that video to rest and make a new (and easier) one. Just doubting as I recently saw Martin work on a new feature just for this... So it will become even easier in the future...
