Marzo 2004

Project Status 2004-03-15

March 15, 2004 - The bi-monthly status report for March 15 is online for review. Basically, we've just got a couple handfuls of bugs left to fix for the 0.38 release and are really looking forward to seeing it out the door!

Cluster of New Features & Fixes

March 7, 2004 - Although the main priority presently is the bug hunt, various developers have been adding features left and right. I'm going to cluster-list several new features that have been, or are being implemented currently: autoscroll, inverse handles on the selection of objects and nodes, Mental's new abstract syntax tree (AST) code, NJH's text in a shape, addition of new controls in the 2ndary toolbar, further transcending from C to C++, and last but not least, DIVISION and CUT PATH -- two of the most requested features to date.

Coming soon will be the implementation of our extension system. Another, important groundbreaking release will be the extraction and consolidation of the 2D SVG clipart/graphics library which will be hosted at freedesktop.org.

Coordination with Scribus

March 5, 2004 - A little while ago, developers from Inkscape and the Scribus project, an open source desktop publishing tool, took time to have a nice chat-based meeting to discuss several points. The good news is that our teams are working on implementing support for similar colorspaces as well as pushing our development so that SVG between both applications looks the same. We also came to an agreement to support XMP Metadata inside our respective document types. Please see the wiki page to read meeting notes.

Win32 build and Inkview

March 4, 2004 - After considerable tweaking, the Win32 build, which has been broken for a couple of days, is OK again.

In addition, src/Makefile.am has been cleaned up a bit to make it clearer, and to allow Inkscape and Inkview to more cleanly use the same base code.
