Kerning, Scale/Rotation, and Auto Scrolling Features

February 23, 2004 - Bulia has added screenshots for two new feature enhancements: The scale/rotation arrows have been modified to use inversion so they're more visible on a cluttered background, and support has been added for letterspacing and kerning, controllable through hot keys.

Bulia has also implemented a usability improvement to to automatically scroll the canvas when an object/node or a rubberband selection is dragged beyond the edge of the canvas.

txt2svg & pod2svg Scripts

February 22, 2004 - Bryce has written a couple scripts for converting text files and manpage input files (POD) into SVG. Ted has added the txt2svg script to Inkscape as a module so that text files can be loaded into Inkscape.

Come Help Out on the BUG HUNT!

February 20, 2004 - With 0.37 happily out the door, we're ready to kick off the event you've all been looking forward to - yup, the BUG HUNT. Over the past few releases we've closed an insane number of bugs. Out of a total of 187 bugs that have been submitted, only 61 remain open. Particularly, we've been very attentive to close any bug that leads to a crash.

No matter how obscure the bug, we don't want Inkscape to crash-ever! But there's a lot of smaller bugs that don't cause crashes, that are no less important to get fixed. Our goal for this release is to close a lot of bugs.

Calling Clipartists

February 14, 2004 - Myrkraverk and Simarilius have kicked off the Inkscape clipart effort by each contributing some SVG graphics under the Public Domain for use by other Inkscape users. These are available in Inkscape CVS currently and will be distributed in the 0.38 release.

We've also set up a Wiki page for info on ClipartContribution. If you'd like to help create clipart collections please visit that page regularly, and join in the discussion on the Inkscape-user@ mailing list!
